Our Approach: A Note from Sonjare's Founder

Greetings, my name is Sonja R. Ennis, founder of Sonjare skin care of the earth. I have been a Massage Therapist in many modalities for 16 years, and an Esthetician for six years. I have gained a vast array of knowledge and experience working in the spa industry for the majority of this time. Whether providing a body treatment or facial to a guest, the question was always the same – "How can I get and then maintain smooth skin with that healthy glow?". My response to everyone was always with another question – "How is your diet? Do you drink enough water? Do you drink coffee or soda and how much? Do you get enough sleep? Do you exercise? How is your stress level? How is your elimination?"

Of course these questions got everyone thinking about what they were taking into their bodies and how they were or were not taking care of themselves. We all know the saying "the eyes are window to the soul". Well, the skin is a direct reflection of what's going on inside the body.

Most people cannot afford to buy skin care at the exorbitant prices commonly seen. The truth is that great organic skin care doesn't have to cost a fortune. Since 2007, I have been blending ingredients and developing my face and body exfoliating scrub. Friends and family who have tried it have been amazed by the results and have encouraged me wholeheartedly to put this product on the market.

My hope is that by experiencing the aroma and texture of all the blended ingredients, along with the results you will see and feel, you will be inspired to be as mindful about feeding your skin quality organic ingredients as you are about what you eat. See for yourself – I encourage you to try Sonjare and see the difference.

Our Packaging

Packaging choices do matter. We have taken great care to find a source that has the least impact on the environment with both its production and its recycling. We chose polypropylene (PP) which does not leach chemicals into the product. It also uses significantly less plastic in its production, cutting down the amount of waste. The PP material is manufactured without the use of chlorine, unlike most other plastics. We chose PP over glass because of the large environmental costs associated with its transportation. Although glass is recycled and made from recycled materials, the energy used over the lifetime of glass packaging (including manufacturing and transportation) was far greater than the energy used in manufacturing and transporting polypropylene. For more information on the impact of glass vs. plastic, please refer to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Study, conducted by the Tellus Institute.
